Style Board

This BLOG is a visual collage dedicated to exploring the personal styles of Candace and Rasmi.  As these forces collide into one, we will see something old, something, new something borrowed, and something... yellow?

More Centerpiece Ideas

When choosing flowers for your centerpieces, it is important to focus on 2 things:

1.) What type of feel is this design going to create for my guests? formal/playful/expressive, etc.

2.) When taken in at a glance, what are the shapes and colors that are going to dominate the room.

Choosing flowers such as the red protea in the blue vases make a very loud statement with very little flower! Whereas, the large green/white/yellow arrangement on top make a muted statement but are stately, and refined.

Modern: Airy

Making use of negative space and interesting containers can be just as visually appealing as large arrangements with densly packed flowers.  Consider these votive holder lined steps with small narcissus blooms, or the stately clematis climbing out of it's lifted-glass vase.

Glass Cylinders

Using simple glass cylinders can provide many different design options while keeping the look of arrangements streamline.  As you can see from these pictures, cylinders can host everything from the carefully placed Lady Slipper orchid on top to the montage of spider Mums and curly willow in the window at the bottom.

Sometimes visibility at a table can be a problem when you use bulky arrangements, but if you are using 60-90" rounds then the chances are your guests are more likely to speak to the people on their right and left than shout across the table, anyway.  Therefore, having a large centerpiece for everyone to focus on can actually reduce the number of akward glances that might otherwise pass from one side to another.
